complete. A crew from Christ the King Lutheran Church at North Lake Tahoe
made the finishing touches to
Kalina's Art Building at Mt Cross.

Memorial Day Weekend
Arrive as early as Thursday, 5/27 p.m.
Leave as late as Monday 5/31 p.m.
Come for part or all of the weekend
Official activities start Sat. a.m. 5/29
Most attending check in for lodging on Fri. p.m. 5/28
What -
Youth, family congregational event - all in congregation are invited. This is an
out reach and service event:
1. to help our camp in the coastal redwoods with its yearly spring cleanup, to
help ready the camp for the summer season, and
2. to provide retreat and outdoor worship for those who attend, particularly our
youth and families
Where -
Mt. Cross Lutheran Camp in the giant redwoods
located in the Santa Cruz coastal mountains. This is your camp.

Lodging -
Free - our group has its own dorm(s) (male & female)
with bathrooms/showers/bunks. Bring your own sleeping bag
or your own sheets.
There are a few lodge rooms with one or two beds for persons with special needs.
These require special arrangements. See or email Jennifer Taylor for details.
Meals -
Free - 3 meals on Saturday and Sunday, and Monday breakfast. There is a Monday
noon BBQ before leaving – for
which there is nominal charge. There is a special outdoor worship on Sunday.
Activities -
Saturday and Sunday during the morning and early afternoon we do camp cleanup
and repair. Work stops in the afternoon. There will be games, swimming ,hiking
in the redwoods, recreation activities (for adults and children of all ages),
and evening campfire. Worship activities are part of the weekend also.
On Monday there is a special worship and music followed by a BBQ, games, raffle,
silent auctions, etc.

Arrival-
You may come for all or part of the weekend.
You may arrive as early as Thursday evening.
Some who go early may spend Friday during the day at the beach.
Let us know your pending arrival time.
If you are arriving after dark, let us know, and we will make arrangements to
direct you to the lodging.
Sleeping-
Remember we will be in a dorm situation - gals in one area and guys in another.
Bathrooms are separate.
Bring sleeping bags or bedding to make up a bunk. Bring your own pillow. Tall,
long guys may wish to bring a ground pad or to put a bunk mattress on the
carpeted bunkhouse floor.
Bring your own toiletries & towels.
Eating-
No meals provided before Saturday a.m. breakfast.
3 great camp meals on Saturday and Sunday.
Monday breakfast provided.
Although there is a "Trading Post" open each day its fare is limited, We will
be taking snacks, juices, etc. for our group. If you have special requests let
us know, or bring a few special things if you wish. Do not pack for a safari as
we are well taken-care-of at the camp. There is a general store nearby, as well
as the towns of Felton & Scotts Valley.
Swimming-
The swimming pool will be open.
Work Gear-
Bring the type of clothing you would use to work around your yard or home. Tools
will be provided for the most part. Special skills are in need at the camp
during the weekend, including office and computer skills.
Itineraries-
Please let us know you time of departure from Tahoe area, and ETA for camp.
Also, please let us know your cell phone # if you carry one. Make sure you get
the shared cell phone number list we will distribute before Memorial weekend.
Special New
Structure to be built in remembrance of Kalina Heacock. The Structure
will be called "Kalena's Art Building" at Mt Cross. It was designed by Bob
Heacock her Father. It is being supported by Thrivant and local donations.
